What are the main topics that will be covered in a BLS certification class?

The American Heart Association's Basic Life Support certification course teaches crucial skills for responding to an emergency. You'll learn how to provide CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). You will also learn how to assess a patient's condition, open the airway, and rescue breathing with a bag-valve-mask device (BVM).

The American Heart Association Basic Life Support Renewal course is a 1.5 hour program.

The American Heart Association BLS certification course is 1.5 hours long and includes both classroom and hands-on training. The classroom portion takes about 45 minutes, while the instructor will spend the remaining time demonstrating how to use an AED on a mannequin. Once you pass the exam, you'll receive a same-day American Heart Association BLS card to prove your certification. It remains valid for 2 years after the date of completion of training; however, you can take advantage of our renewal course at any time during those 2 years if you forget something or are interested in refreshing your knowledge on BLS procedures. Who Should Complete American Heart Association BLS Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Renewal?

The American Heart Association recommends that BLS providers renew their certification every two years. If you are required to do so by an employer or a regulatory body, such as the AHA, then you will need to complete the American Heart Association's in-person renewal course. By completing this course, people can feel safer knowing that there is someone nearby who knows how to administer immediate first aid in case of emergency.

The following list includes the individuals that usually require AHA BLS Provider certification:

Anesthesia Technicians, Audiology Assistants, Certified Nurse Assistants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienists, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Endodontists, Firefighters, General Dentists, Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).

In order to register for AHA BLS Provider certification, the student must be at least 16 years of age and in good health to participate in all required course activities. The student must also participate in the entire course without interruption and comply with all of the rules and regulations presented by the certified instructor.

As a candidate for AHA BLS Provider certification, it is important to meet all of these requirements and ensure that you have been able to retain a vast amount of information regarding the course content as well as the skills you need to perform in all situations. If you have successfully completed this training and have passed the skills-based test at full proficiency, you will become eligible to take your AHA BLS Provider certification card home with you

A Review of Basic Life Support (BLS)

This post will be about the class I took, the skills I learned, and the topics covered on the BLS exam.

Basic life support (BLS) is an important first aid skill. The American Heart Association (AHA) provides certification for this skill.

I took the class at Willow Grove CPR It was offered in the evenings, which fit my schedule. I like that classes were small, with only 5 other students (including me). This meant that everyone got a lot of one-on-one time with the instructor.

The class was taught by an EMT who is also a paramedic. He made sure that we understood why we did things and how they worked. That way we could apply them if we ever needed to help a friend or family member in an emergency situation.

The class included CPR training and practice on mannequins and real people. It also included practice on using an automatic external defibrillator (AED). In addition, we reviewed basic life support skills - how to check for responsiveness, how to give rescue breaths, chest compressions, and abdominal thrusts for choking relief. The instructor went over all these skills so many times that it was easy to remember what to do if I ever found myself

BLS Exam

The American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Course Exam tests your knowledge of the skills you learned during class. You must pass with a score of at least 84%. There are 25 questions total, and time is allotted for one hour. However, most students are able to complete their exam and receive their certification within 20 - 30 minutes by reviewing their notes from class and asking any questions that come up during lecture or discussion with other students/instructors in order to better understand key concepts.
