ACLS is a standardized course that builds on the foundation of basic life support (BLS) skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.
The ACLS program is designed to provide training in an organizationally effective environment that promotes learning by integrating didactic instruction with hands-on practice skills acquisition. This will ensure that each participant receives appropriate instruction based on their skill level while providing ample opportunities to practice these new techniques under supervision until they become comfortable enough to perform them independently without direct supervision or guidance from instructors or peers
